Gye Nyame — "Except for God" — is the most widely used Adinkra symbol among the Akan people, expressing the omnipotence and supremacy of the Creator. Its spiraling, almost labyrinthine form represents the infinite nature of the divine: no beginning, no end, encompassing all that exists. Stamped onto cloth, carved into stools, and worn as pendants, Gye Nyame is both declaration and devotion.
